8Bitone+ MICRO COMPOSER App Reviews

Wow. Cant stop playing with it.

This app is great for making music. Brilliant interface and a great value.

Killer deal-get it NOW

A small UI tweek made a MAJOR improvement for fat fingered frustration. Better snag this app while you can for a BUCK, its a $10 app. The UI still a little fussy for me, doesnt hardly matter considering what this app can do for the 8bit geek. WARNING: you MUST reboot your device after installing or the arp wont work/will crash. This is standard practice for any music app-- but some still forget.

Lots of potential

This a great little app with lots of capabilities, but its missing some key features: the ability to export songs youve created, change the properties of tracks midway through a song (just add more tracks!), and providing a way to view more than one track at a time in the piano roll. Im having lots of fun with this, but would like to share what Ive created!

Got it on sale, here are my thoughts

I was looking to get this app but I didnt have the $10 to buy it. Then I found it for 99cents on Genius and had to get it. First, the positives. The instrument editor is fairly complex. It allows you to use pulse waves, noise, triangle waves, and even sawtooth and sinewaves. It even has an appregator and an LFO to rapidly change pitch and volume. The stretchy piano roll is kind of fun, too. You can jump to another measure by pressing the blocks in the sequencer tab. However, there were a couple negatives. The most disappointing one was that you can only edit 4 instruments PER SONG. Not 4 instruments at a time like most chiptune software on other platforms. This makes it difficult to create a tune with kick and snare noise. Also, the knobs in the instrument editor and the octave slide can take a little getting used to. The TCR, which controls the playback and open/saves files requires touching a tiny button. Overall, this app is fun, but I dont recommend it for $10 until they add more instruments/ the ability to change instruments on the fly.

English documentation please!!!

Cool but really needs translation otherwise its a lot of fumbling to figure it out

Underground NES movement approved

I have been waiting for a replacement for the 6502 emulating tracker called NERD TRACKER for years. It did not work on most computers, but it was brilliant. You could compile the music into tour own video games, or even put them on rom, and play them in a real NES. That was Michel iwanecs program. Joe parcel and his minion Andy coppess were disciples of Banamos. Memblers, did you have anything to do with this? This is great, slick programming. Get it!!! In addition, this is the only piano roll type sequencer on iPhone!!! Worth $10. Got it on Sale though.

Why did I buy this

At least it was 99 cents. I dont know why I bought this, I already had sunvox. You can do so much more with it., and it now only is a dollar more, and normally it is five dollars cheaper.

Retro Perfect

This is EXACTLY what I was looking for. There really is an app for everything! This app can do everything you would ever need for making quality retro chip tunes. My only complaint is that there is no export as wav feature (unless I missed it). It limits its purpose to an extent without it. It can be a challenge to use at first, but just mess around with it for a bit - it comes to you pretty fast. Ive already made some Kid Icarus style retro music after about an hour of use - what more could you ask for? And for .99 cents (at the time of this review), its a steal.

Awesome

Ive been looking everywhere for a nice 8bit composer. Its great that I can have it on my touch, and mess around and make some quick 8bit tunes. You will have to plat with it for a while to get proficient with the UI. Plenty of "how to" vids on the site. Thanks yudo!

cool - but whats with the clicking sound?

nice app - but im getting a clicking sound when each note starts...?

8bit crazy!

It doesnt have a filter or phaser/flanger, but other than that its pure 8bit nostalgia! I will be using this in my future productions. Thanks!

Eh...

Great visuals. I wish I had known you could only "record" via piano roll input. I thought I would be able to push a record button, play out something on the keyboard, stop and edit like all sequencers in the world! Too costly for no live record ability.

Meh...

Great sounds but has sort of sloppy interface... Takes too much time to make a song. Fix it!!!

<3

i wuv this app! im into chiptune music and was gonna buy LSDj but this works just as well. gladly paid 3$ for it, you should too! YEAH YOU!

Love it!

Fantastic sound and flexibility

Amazingly detailed....

But a bit complicated. Still, it is one of the best apps I have ever bought.

Great App!

I love this app, but I wish it easier to type in notes. Also English instructions would be appreciated.

Sega genesis years

Brings back a buttload of memories. The best 8bit music programmer on the iPhone. Definitely a must get!!

:D

This app is great and actually has a lot to work with! The only things that would make it perfect are if it could record live and if it had a few more tracks. 4 feels a bit limited. Other than that I would say this app is worth getting :D

Cool for three bucks

Pretty enjoyable for what it is, but without English instructions its all but impossible to make a good chiptune without prior knowledge.
